Celtic have seen former Arsenal defender Kieran Tierney quickly settle back into life at Parkhead since completing his return from the Premier League last summer.

The Scotland international re‑joined the Hoops on a five-year contract following the expiry of his Arsenal deal, marking a major homecoming for the left-back who began his senior career in Glasgow before moving to north London in 2019.

Tierney made 170 appearances in his first spell with Celtic, lifting multiple domestic trophies before his departure, and has brought valuable experience and leadership to the current squad since his return. His presence has been widely welcomed by supporters and management alike, with former manager Brendan Rodgers praising both his quality and his Celtic pedigree.

The 28-year-old has taken on a more experienced role within the team, helping guide a relatively young squad as they aim to reclaim Scottish Premiership supremacy and make an impact in European competitions. Tierney’s consistent performances have provided defensive solidity and underscored the club’s ambitions both domestically and abroad.

Building on Tierney’s successful return, Celtic are now reportedly on the verge of securing another high-profile signing, former England international Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

According to The Herald, the Scottish champions are close to finalising a deal to bring the 32-year-old midfielder to Glasgow, with negotiations expected to conclude within the next 24 hours to allow his registration for Celtic’s upcoming UEFA Europa League campaign.

Oxlade-Chamberlain, a free agent after leaving Turkish side Besiktas last year, has been training with Arsenal to maintain fitness. Celtic’s interest has intensified due to his experience at the highest levels of English football, and manager Martin O’Neill is said to be in advanced talks with the player.

Sources indicate that the club is prioritising the swift completion of the deal so he can be included in their European squad ahead of the UEFA registration deadline, which allows for adjustments prior to the knockout rounds.

If completed, the move would add significant experience to Celtic’s midfield, complementing Tierney’s leadership at the back and strengthening the squad’s depth as they pursue domestic titles and a deeper run in Europe.

While contract details remain undisclosed, the rapid pace of negotiations suggests Celtic are confident of securing Oxlade-Chamberlain’s signature in time to bolster their season ambitions.
