Tracking a warm up! Could temps reach 40°? – Chris

Good Monday evening. We’re coming off a classic Minnesota winter snowfall, with a widespread 1–3 inches falling across the area on Sunday. Roads were slick at times, but overall this was a manageable, seasonable system — and now we shift gears to what’s next.

Tonight turns quieter and cold again, with temperatures dipping into the single digits. Tuesday stays seasonable for early February standards, mostly cloudy with highs in the upper teens. There’s a very low chance of a stray flurry overnight, but most of us stay dry.

Wednesday remains calm and fairly typical, with highs in the mid-20s. But by Thursday, our Next WeatherMaker arrives — not snow, but a surge of warmer air. Highs jump into the upper 30s, and yes, that’s flirting with above-freezing temperatures for parts of the area. There could be a spotty snow shower Thursday night, but the bigger story is what that warmth means for the snowpack.

As we head into Friday, a cold front swings through, knocking temperatures back down by evening. Even so, the late-week warmth may lead to some melting, slushy patches, and refreezing overnight — something to keep in mind for early morning travel.

The weekend looks quieter and seasonable, before another mild push Sunday into Monday, with highs again climbing into the mid-30s. Bottom line: after Sunday’s snowfall, we’re entering a relatively calm stretch, with temperature swings — not storms — driving impacts through the rest of the week.

Have a great evening and take care,
